According to Futbolnews.pl (h/t Derbyshire Live), Southampton have been credited with an interest in young Polish winger Kamil Jozwiak, who currently plies his trade with Lech Poznan in his homeland.
The 22-year-old, who was linked with a move to EFL Championship side Derby County back in January, has also attracted interest from Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen and Turkish giants Galatasaray. (Futbolnews.pl h/t Derbyshire Live)
As per the report, Galatasaray have submitted a €2.5million bid for Jozwiak but Lech Poznan clearly want more money to part ways with their star winger.
Kamil Jozwiak spent four years in the youth ranks of Lech Poznan between 2011 and 2015 before making the step up to the first-team back during the 2015-16 season.
He spent time on loan at Katowice in the Polish second-tier in the following campaign and remained a squad player for the next couple of seasons before establishing himself as a regular starter at his boyhood club.
The 22-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2019/20 campaign, scoring 9 goals and accumulating 7 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions. Jozwiak’s exploits earned him his first senior international cap for Poland in a Euro 2020 qualifier against Slovenia back in November.
Southampton stormed to an 11th-place finish in the 2019-20 Premier League, thanks in large proportion to the prolific form of Danny Ings, who bagged 22 goals and finished as the runner-up to Jamie Vardy in the race for the Golden Boot.
Ralph Hasenhuttl largely relied on the likes of Nathan Redmond and Stuart Armstrong to spark creativity from the wide areas this season. Both were among the standout performers for the Saints, with young winger Djenepo enduring an injury-stricken debut campaign in the Premier League.
Considering that Southampton don’t really have too many specialist wingers (Armstrong is a central attacking midfielder by trade) in their ranks, investing in a promising young talent like Kamil Jozwiak could be a good idea.
The Saints have largely emphasized on signing young and talented players with a lot of potential since the appointment of Hasenhuttl.
To that end, the 22-year-old could be a good long-term investment for the club given his age. The Pole looks capable of adding some valuable depth to Southampton’s attack after an impressive season in his homeland.
Southampton have some bright young players like Obafemi, Smallbone, Adams, Djenepo, and Valery in their squad, and adding Kamil Jozwiak would represent a continuation of the club’s long-term strategy for success under Hasenhuttl’s stewardship.
The Poland international might take a bit of time to adapt to life in English football but one would expect him to prevail at St.Mary’s, considering his undisputed talent.
