Why Leeds United must sign the highly-rated Mikkel Damsgaard
According to Daily Star, Leeds United are one of the names who are after the talented Mikkel Damsgaard. The Danish youngster has caught the eye of several clubs across Europe, with Southampton, West Ham, Tottenham, and Juventus interested in him.
Leeds need to beef up their wide options
It was a surprise to see Leeds stay quiet in the January transfer window but they had good reasons for it. Marcelo Bielsa looks content with the side he has at his disposal. There wasn’t an emergency for players in any position. They are very likely to stave off relegation given how their season has been progressing.
However, they should look at certain areas of the squad come the end of the season. The wide areas should be the first they should invest in. Jack Harrison is on a loan from Manchester City and no permanent deal has yet been arranged. Ezgjan Alioski is the only other left-sided wide player in the squad and he has been playing at left-back.
Mikkel Damsgaard can be a good long term addition
The youngster’s growing reputation in his homeland was enough to prompt Sampdoria to offer him a route to Italy this past summer. Damsgaard has enjoyed a promising start to life in Serie A, featuring in all but one of Sampdoria’s 16 league fixtures so far. Despite not being a regular starter, the Danish starlet has still managed to contribute with 2 goals and 4 assists in 20 appearances so far this season.
Leeds completing a deal for Mikkel Damsgaard would represent a long-term coup. The 20-year-old has progressed decently over the past couple of seasons, making significant improvements to his game. His impressive start to life in Italy was even rewarded with an international debut for Denmark back in November.
