Why Leeds United should return for Ryan Kent in January

According to Leeds Live, former Sunderland forward Kevin Phillips believes that Leeds United target Ryan Kent could be on the move after changing his agents. The Whites held a serious interest in the winger and now they could have their chance to make another move.

Ryan Kent rose through the youth ranks of Liverpool but he made only a single competitive appearance for the Reds, spending time on loan at Coventry City, Bristol City, and Barnsley in the Football League, as well as Freiburg in Germany and Rangers in Scotland.

The diminutive winger amassed an impressive 6 goals and 9 assists while on loan at Ibrox during the 2018-19 campaign. That prompted Steven Gerrard to fork out a handsome £6m to sign the 24-year-old permanently last summer, with Kent becoming Rangers’ second-most expensive signing ever.

The former England U-20 international bagged 8 goals and 4 assists for the Gers in the previous campaign, playing a key role as Gerrard’s side finished runners-up to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and made it all the way through the last-16 of the Europa League.

Kent has made a stunning start to the 2020-21 season as well, registering 6 goals and 7 assists in 20 appearances across all competitions.

Leeds need a goal-scoring winger like Kent

It is no secret at this point that Leeds could use a shot in the arm in mid-season. The club have done decently after their promotion but have tailed off a bit in recent weeks. While Marcelo Bielsa is still working well with the players he has, there are certain areas where he could use some new personnel.

The left-wing should be the first and foremost. Jack Harrison is again back on a loan deal from Manchester City and no permanent deal has yet been arranged. Ezgjan Alioski is the only other left-sided wide player in the squad. Thus, turning to Ryan Kent would be a good decision here.
