Why Leeds United should sign Jack Harrison permanently

According to ESPN (h/t The Shields Gazette), Manchester City loanee Jack Harrison is willing to make a permanent switch to Leeds United at the end of his loan spell.

Harrison, 23, who came through Manhattan Soccer Club’s youth ranks joined Manchester City in the summer of 2018. He was immediately sent on loan to Leeds United and since his arrival at Elland Road, he has established himself in Marcelo Bielsa’s starting XI.

The youngster has been in sensational form in the past two seasons and has played a crucial role in his side’s move to the top of the Championship table.

Meanwhile, the Whites have been excellent throughout the campaign and are currently one point ahead of West Brom in the race for automatic qualification to the Premier League. Bielsa has done a stellar job so far despite the team showing a dip in form.

However, with the season nearing its end, it’s time for the manager to make changes to his squad for next season. One area where Leeds United need strength is the wide positions, where Jack Harrison and Helder Costa are the only two players available on the wings.

Apart from them, the Whites have only Ian Poveda, who joined in the winter from Manchester City. Thus, to make the team stronger next season, regardless of their league status, the manager should consider signing Harrison permanently.

The Englishman has repaid the faith shown in him by contributing with 4 goals and 3 assists last season and has also added 5 goals and 7 assists this term. He is Leeds’ top assists provider this term and looks to have a bright future if he moves to Elland Road on a permanent basis.

Harrison is capable of playing on either side of the attacking unit and could be a valuable asset for the Whites in the future. He has featured in 40 games across all competitions this term and still has a lot of room for development.

Verdict

Leeds are in dire need of wingers in their attacking unit as both the in-form players are on loan. With Harrison in their side, they can expect him to provide them with goals and assists. Thus, Bielsa should sign him for the future of the club.
