Why Leeds United should sign Jack Harrison permanently
As per Manchester Evening News, Leeds United are willing to sign Manchester City winger Jack Harrison on a permanent basis this summer.
Harrison, 23, spent eight years with Manchester United’s youth academy before moving to Manhattan Soccer Club’s youth side. In January 2018, Manchester City bought him from New York City FC. However, since then, he has been on different loan spells.
He joined Leeds United in the summer of 2018 on a loan spell and has been outstanding in the past two years at Elland Road. He has helped the club reach greater heights. Thus, the Whites should make a permanent move for the winger this summer.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men have been brilliant throughout the campaign despite a slight dip in form. They have managed to reach the top of the Championship table though they have been dumped out of the other cup competitions.
The attacking unit, led by Patrick Bamford, has scored 56 goals so far. At the same time, the defence has done a marvellous job at the back, conceding just 30 as they boast of the best defensive record in the league this term. They have been successful as a unit and are hoping for automatic qualification to the top-flight despite the suspension of the games.
However, the Whites boss Bielsa should focus on strengthening the squad. Most of the key players in the team are on loan and that could spell trouble if they leave at the end of the season. To do better in the top-flight, the manager should make sure some of his key players stay behind to help them sustain in the Premier League.
Harrison could be a fantastic attacking presence for Leeds United
Harrison, Helder Costa and Ivan Poveda are the only wingers available at the manager’s disposal. Out of the three, two are on loan and Poveda just joined the squad in the winter. Thus, signing the former New York City man on a permanent basis could solve a huge crisis for the club.
Last season, Harrison racked up 3 goals and 4 assists but that was not helpful in securing promotion to the top-flight. However, he has bettered that record this term with 5 goals and 7 assists in 37 league games. He has established himself as a key figure under Bielsa.
The former England U21 international’s presence beyond the summer would be a boost for the Whites. They need not spend heavily on a new signing in the summer as Harrison has already got accustomed to the club after being with them for two years.

Verdict
With limited options in the attack, Leeds are in dire need of reinforcements to their frontline. And keeping hold of Harrison would be a great deal for the club. He can also provide them with the much-needed goals and could go on to represent them in the long run. Thus, the Whites should manage to secure his services on a permanent basis this summer.
