Why Leicester City should make a move for Shakhtar’s Tete
As per Globo Esporte (h/t Leicestershire Live), Leicester City have made contacts over the possible signing of Brazilian forward Tete ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Tete, 20, came through the ranks of Gremio’s youth system and was promoted to the club’s senior set-up only in January 2018. A year later, he was signed by the Ukrainian outfit and he has been in fine form since then.

He has been impressive for Shakthar Donetsk and his eye-catching displays have also garnered attention from several clubs, including Newcastle United, AC Milan and Roma, as per the report.
Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers has done a stellar job in his first full season as the manager of the Foxes. After missing out on a European spot last season, finishing 9th in the table, Leicester have pushed themselves into the Champions League qualification spot this term.
They are currently 3rd in the league standings and are flying high on the success of star striker Jamie Vardy, who has plundered 19 goals in the league so far. At the same time, their defence has also become a force to reckon with, conceding just 28 goals. The partnership between Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu has flourished throughout the campaign.

However, the manager should bring reinforcements to the attack next season. The wide areas need to be strengthened.
The need for depth in the attack
Demarai Gray is the only natural winger available at the manager’s disposal but the youngster has received only a few opportunities.
Harvey Barnes and Ayoze Perez are the two wide men used regularly and there has not been enough competition for them. In that regard, signing Tete from Shakhtar would be a good piece of business for the future.
Tete has enjoyed success so far in Ukraine since joining them in February 2019. After finishing with 4 goals and 3 assists in the last season, the Brazilian has improved a lot this term. In 18 league games, he has racked up 4 goals and 4 assists and seems to be one of the best players for his side.

The Brazil U20 international could be a valuable addition to Leicester’s squad if he is able to grow under the guidance of Rodgers. His inclusion would also bring healthy competition within the squad. He is also capable of operating behind the strikers.

Adding Tete to the Foxes team would help them improve the depth in the squad. At 20, he has a huge future ahead of him and Leicester should be able to get the best out of him. Thus, they should make a move for the former Gremio man this summer.
