Why Liverpool should sign Ferran Torres in the summer
According to El Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Mail), Liverpool are keen to sign Spanish winger Ferran Torres, who is also a target of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Torres, 20, came through Valencia’s youth system and was promoted to the club’s senior team in January 2018. Since then, he has made 87 appearances in which he scored 8 goals and provided 10 assists. He is one of the most exciting youngsters in Spain and has become a regular starter under Albert Celades.
His excellent form in the last two campaigns also earned him a call-up to Spain’s U21 side as he made his U21 debut last September. He had previously won the European U19 and U17 Championships with the nation’s youth squad.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have been in scintillating form this season and are on course to win their first league title in 30 years. They have been dominant and are currently 22 points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the league standings.
Jurgen Klopp has taken his team to greater heights and has already won the Champions League last season. However, in the on-going campaign, Liverpool have faced defeats and their loss to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the knockout stages has put them in a difficult situation. They also lost to Watford in the league last weekend and Chelsea have beaten them in the FA Cup.
Liverpool’s form of late has been poor and they need to be strong in every area of the pitch to try and win various trophies. Therefore, the manager should bring in reinforcements and must have adequate backups for an entire campaign. And Valencia’s Ferran Torres would be a good choice.
The 20-year-old has featured in 34 games across all competitions this term, scoring 5 goals and providing 6 assists.
The Spaniard has featured regularly on the right-wing and would be a good addition to the Reds team, where Mohamed Salah is the only established right-winger. In that case, Torres can be used as a backup for the Egyptian. He is also capable of playing on the other flank.
He had put in several match-winning performances in La Liga this season, like the ones against Athletic Bilbao and Villareal, and could be a valuable asset to Klopp if he continues to perform in the same vein of form. In the game against Real Madrid earlier in the campaign, he was outstanding as he caused troubles to Madrid’s back four.

Torres would add depth to Liverpool’s squad and can also provide competition within the team. He is just 20 and has a lot of room for development.
Therefore, Liverpool must beat off the competition for the youngster and lure him to Anfield at the end of the campaign.
