Why Liverpool should make a move for Alexander Sorloth in the summer
According to Fanatik (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are considering a summer swoop for Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sorloth, who currently plies his trade with Trabzonspor in Turkey on loan.
Sorloth, 24, joined the Eagles in January 2018 after an impressive time with FC Midtjylland, where he scored 10 goals and provided 8 assists in 19 games. But his time at Selhurst Park did not go as expected, as he failed to score in 16 league games and was immediately sent on loan to Genk.
After struggling in Belgium, the Norwegian was again on the move to Turkey, where he has been in a fine run of form. His impressive performances have also caught the attention of Manchester United and Real Madrid, as per the report.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are on course to lift their first Premier League title after dominating throughout the season. Currently, the Reds are atop the league table, 25 points ahead of second-placed Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp has never failed to push his team forward and has taken them to great heights after winning the Champions League last season. The attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah has led the team brilliantly so far and has grown to be one of the deadliest trios in Europe at the moment.
However, with the season coming to an end, Klopp has to bring in reinforcements to make the team even stronger next season. While Salah and Mane have covered the wide areas, Firmino has been the lone striker throughout the campaign. Divock Origi, Takumi Minamino and Xherdan Shaqiri are the backup attackers in the squad. Origi has mostly been used in the wide areas by Klopp.
Thus, to improve their attacking unit, the Reds should make a move for Palace’s on-loan Alexander Sorloth.
Sorloth has hit top form after failing to convince with Palace and Genk in the last two seasons. Now with Trabzonspor, he has hit the ground running and has already racked up 25 goals and 7 assists in 39 games.
With an upward turn in his game, he would definitely add depth to Klopp’s squad if he joins them.
