Why Liverpool should quickly move on from Fekir fiasco and sign this on-loan Real Madrid star

Liverpool have been a busy club in the ongoing transfer window, having already signed Fabinho and Naby Keita. Jurgen Klopp is desperate to make changes to his squad after his team stunningly collapsed in the Champions League final. Real Madrid ultimately scripted history as they won the game 3-1, winning their third consecutive Champions League final in the process.

Nevertheless, Liverpool enjoyed an impressive campaign. Their attack wreaked havoc across some of the best teams in Europe. However, there is room for improvement.

Surely, the German is not done with the summer window yet. Liverpool still need to add an attacking midfielder, a defender and a goalkeeper to their ranks. Though Liverpool failed in their pursuit of Lyon captain Nabil Fekir, Klopp must consider other alternatives.

And the Liverpool manager must certainly consider a move for Bayern Munich’s James Rodriguez. The midfielder made headlines with his superb goal in the last World Cup, following which he joined Real Madrid.

However, the Colombian is currently serving a two-year loan spell with Bayern Munich, working wonders for the German outfit in the previous campaign.

James made 21 appearances in the league last season, scoring 6 goals and providing 11 assists. Although he prefers to play in the central midfield area, Rodriguez can be used in a wide role too. With the departure of Phillipe Coutinho, Liverpool have a huge void to fill and James could be the man.

Granted, he doesn’t have the Brazilian’s ball control or dribbling abilities but his vision and passing abilities make him an exceptional player. Unlike Coutinho, James is a left-footed player. The Colombian is also capable of taking set-pieces and spot kicks, which is a huge bonus.

With the arrival of Corentin Tolisso at Bayern, James would probably have to resort to a role off the bench. A move to Merseyside would be sensible, with the striker looking for regular game time. Hence, Klopp should aim to complete the deal swiftly and bring the Real Madrid man to Liverpool. He would surely be a massive addition to the side and a great replacement for Coutinho.
