As per Daily Mail, Kevin De Bruyne is set to be rewarded with a new and improved contract by Manchester City for his commitment and performances at the club. The new contract would earn him around £300,000 per week, making him one of the highest earners in the team and the league as well.
Kevin De Bruyne is a 29-year-old Belgian midfielder who plays for Manchester City. He started his youth career at KVV Drongen in 1997 but moved to KAA Gent after 2 years. Spending 6 seasons in their youth teams, the midfielder made the switch to KRC Genk’s youth team.
Promoted to the senior side in 2008, he went on to make over 100 appearances for them, contributing to 53 goals. Much was expected from his transfer to Chelsea but he was loaned out twice during that time to Werder Bremen and Genk.
Finally, Wolfsburg signed him permanently as De Bruyne started to show his talents. In 73 games for the German outfit, he scored 20 goals and provided a staggering 37 assists (source – Transfermarkt). Man City came calling in 2015 and he has been nothing but world-class for them.
Despite some injury niggles, he has gone on to make over 200 appearances for them and has provided a whopping 90 assists. He has been an important part of Belgium as well, with 19 goals in 75 appearances.
Kevin De Bruyne is arguably the best midfielder on the planet right now and few would oppose the statement. Not only is De Bruyne great with the numbers he has racked up, but his overall gameplay also makes you want to pay a premium to watch him.
Such is the class oozing from everything he does on the pitch. From elite levels of passing to tricky dribbling to a belter of a shot from those boots. De Bruyne has got it all.
So how do you reward such a player? You give him a new long term contract with eye-watering wages. No one can deny that he deserves it. He has been producing outrageous numbers for the team and has helped them win two league titles, while pushing them to a Champions League quarter-final last season.
At 29, he is at the peak of his powers and it is scary to think how much better he can get. City are doing the right thing by handing him a new long term contract to secure his services and make sure he ends his career at the club.
