According to The Sun, Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is willing to return to Manchester City after Manchester United’s attempt for the youngster seems unsuccessful.
Sancho, 20, flourished through Watford and Manchester City’s youth system and left the former club for Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2017. Since then, he has become a regular member of the German outfit and has established himself as one of the best young prospects across Europe.
He was instrumental in helping Dortmund lift the German Super Cup earlier this season as he was involved in both the goals against Bayern Munich. The young winger has been in sensational form in the past two campaigns, creating a lot of records and is one of the most sought-after players in Europe. Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have shown their interest in him for quite a long while, as per the report.
Apart from a defensive signing, City could do better with another forward in their ranks. Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez are the four wingers available at the manager’s disposal. And with Sancho in their ranks, there would be much competition that could indeed help the team going forward.
And with Leroy Sane’s future at the Etihad up in the air, signing the English international would be a fantastic move. Sancho’s move to Germany has helped him evolve into one of the finest players in Europe in the last two seasons. In 34 Bundesliga games last season, he scored 12 goals and provided 17 assists, which is a record for a youngster in the German top-flight.
The 20-year-old has taken his game to the next level this term, having already racked up 17 goals and 17 assists in the league. He is a key member under Lucien Favre. His return to City would definitely bolster their already powerful attack and he could be the face of City in the future if he continues to develop this way.
The English international has already shown his potential at the highest level. With experience, he could only get better and could be a leader for City in the future. Thus, they should make a move and re-sign Sancho this summer.
