As per Calciomercato (h/t Daily Star), Juventus are keen on extending the contract of star forward Paulo Dybala, who has been a long-term target for Manchester United.
Dybala, 26, came through the youth ranks of Instituto Cordoba and joined Italian side Palermo in 2012. His impressive performance with the club earned him a move to Turin with Juventus, where he established himself as one of the best forwards in Europe.
He scored regularly at a decent rate in his first four years with the Old Lady but his form took a dip last season and was on the verge of an exit. However, he stayed put and has taken his game to the next level under Maurizio Sarris this term, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists in 35 games across all competitions.
Meanwhile, United have also seen a rise in their form as they have been unbeaten in the last 11 games, winning 8 of them. They are currently 5th in the league table after a convincing 2-0 victory against Manchester City last weekend.
The arrival of Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo in January has proved to be vital for the team as both of them have made an impact on the team, contributing with 7 goals and 5 assists. However, they need to strengthen other areas on the pitch and United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must look to bring in world-class players to take them to a higher level.
In that regard, the Rd Devils must reignite their interest in the Argentine and Juventus playmaker Paulo Dybala, who has gone from strength to strength this season.
The 26-year-old has a proven track record and has been involved heavily in all of Juventus’ title-winning campaigns in recent years. He is capable of being a game-changer in difficult moments and would be a great signing for the Red Devils.
A second-striker by trade, Dybala is capable of operating from the right wing and has also put in decent performances in a centre-forward role. At the same time, United don’t have an established winger on the right flank. Jesse Lingard is completely out of form and the manager should be able to bring in someone who can put in crosses for the strikers on a regular basis.
The Argentine international’s versatile nature of play could be handy for United and the manager can use him in various positions across the frontline. His creativity and technique have also been top-notch and alongside Fernandes, he can bolster the Red Devils’ attacking unit.
At 26, it would be the right time for Dybala to step into the Premier League as he has the ability to establish himself as one of the top players. At Old Trafford, he can develop his skills further, while helping the team in its future endeavours.
Therefore, United must reignite their interest in the Argentine star and lure him to England as he can help them return to the top if he is able to continue with the same form.
