Why Manchester United signing David Alaba would be a top move
According to the Telegraph (h/t Daily Mail), David Alaba has emerged as one of the biggest names that could be available in the transfer market this summer. The player is contracted with the club until next year, meaning he could leave the club on a free transfer if no deal is agreed.
The report suggests that conversations have been taking place for over a year, but no conclusion has been reached over a new contract. Bayern would be willing to sell him instead of losing the highly-rated player for free.
The Austrian’s versatility makes him a desired option for any side as the player can play at left-back, in central defence and even in the midfield. David Alaba has been a key part of Bayern’s 8th consecutive title, having featured 36 times this season.
Manchester United have all the reasons to make an approach
David Alaba is not just a dynamic left-back but also a top-class ball-playing centre-back. The player has always shown the desire to take up new challenges within the Bayern squad.
Manchester United are definitely one of the better teams in the Premier League in terms of their defensive performances but an addition like Alaba can prove to be a masterstroke for the club given his obvious quality.
For Manchester United, Alaba would neatly fit into the left-back role. The player’s arrival would also be good for the development of Brandon Williams as he can learn from the top star. David Alaba is also a clear upgrade on the injury-prone Luke Shaw.
The Austrian star is also just 27 and is theoretically at his peak. All in all, the player is someone with massive ability and is versatile. His set-piece ability is well-known as well and this could come in handy for Manchester United.
Alaba’s superb display in performance showcases why he is such an important player to the club and thus, it is of no surprise that Bayern Munich are desperate for the player to sign an extension.
