Why Pat McAfee returning to NXT is a stroke of genius from WWE

Pat McAfee was back on NXT and made quite an impact

NXT is possibly the best brand in WWE when it comes to matches. That doesn’t leave much for SmackDown and Raw to fight over, but the Black and Gold brand also gets some big hits regarding their main events.

This week saw Breezango defend their tag titles against the Undisputed Era. However, the Era couldn’t participate since Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish were attacked.

This led to Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch getting their shot at glory and they made it count. There was some help from a mysterious figure in all this but Burch and Lorcan celebrated wildly.

The figure took his mask off to show that it was Pat McAfee. The former NFL star was back to make his mark on NXT and he even hinted at continuing his rivalry with The Era.

A home run from NXT

There were some doubts about McAfee doing well in a wrestling ring but he proved the doubters wrong with his incredible performance against Adam Cole.

McAfee is excellent on the microphone as well and will work well as the promo guy for the new tag champions.

However, this is a genius move from NXT to get McAfee back. The former NFL star can now restart a feud with the Era, something that didn’t seem to have ended after the match with Cole.

This is also the right move from NXT as it was Ridge Holland who was expected to feature in a rivalry with the Era.

However, he picked up a serious injury recently and will be out for long. McAfee can now take over that rivalry and WWE can also blame him for the attack on the Undisputed Era members.

Cole, Fish and Strong have been attacked in recent weeks while Kyle O’Reilly is still recovering from a crazy battle against Finn Balor.

McAfee might also be able to get in the ring and that will be something to behold. WWE needed someone to take over from the unfortunate Holland, and they got the right man for the job.
