Why Lyndon Dykes to Rangers would bolster their attack
According to The Sun, Rangers are interested in signing Livingston forward Lyndon Dykes, who would cost them around £2m in the summer. Dykes, 24, made a name for himself with the Queen of the South FC in the Scottish Championship after joining them in the summer of 2016.
After 136 appearances and 23 goals, he moved to Livingston and has become an instant hit at the Tony Macaroni Arena. The Australian has been in sensational form for the past three years and is building a reputation for himself.
Thus, Rangers should make a move for him ahead of Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers, who are all keen on the striker, as per the report.
Despite performing on a higher note at the start of the campaign, Steven Gerrard’s men failed to carry on with the momentum until the last stages of the league. They have once again lost the league title to rivals Celtic. However, with the campaign coming to an abrupt end, the manager should look to bring in reinforcements to the squad to do a better job next time around.
One area that Gerrard needs to focus on is the attacking unit, where Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe did a brilliant job but the duo failed in the latter stages of the league. The Colombian, who scored 12 goals in his first 17 league games, failed to find the back of the net in the last 9 games.
Morelos has also been linked with a move away in the summer and his departure could leave the Gers with one established striker down. Defoe has also scored 13 goals so far but he is already 34 and is beyond his prime. Thus, Rangers should bring in a striker to add depth and competition up front.
Dykes could be a leader in Rangers’ attack
Dykes has already racked up 12 goals and 10 assists in 33 games across all competitions and is the joint sixth-highest top scorer in the Premiership. And this is a brilliant feat for a player in his first season in the Scottish top-flight.
The Australian would undoubtedly add depth to Rangers’ attacking unit, whilst also bringing healthy competition to the squad. If he is able to replicate the good form, he would certainly be a valuable addition to Gerrard’s side. And with experience, he could lead Rangers’ attack in the long run.

Verdict
At 24, Dykes has a lot to offer at a high level and Rangers need to recruit strikers if they lose Morelos in the summer. He can provide them with much-needed extra goals and thus, the Gers should lure the Australian to Ibrox in the summer.
