Why Rangers should sign Ianis Hagi Permanently in the summer

According to The Sun, Rangers are working to tie down Ianis Hagi, who is on loan from Belgian side Genk, on a permanent basis in the summer. The report suggests that the Gers’ assistant coach Gary McAllister has revealed that the club are interested in making his move to Ibrox permanent.

Hagi, 21, came through Academia Gheorghe Hagi and Galatasaray SK’s youth ranks before moving to Fc Viitorul in 2013. He made 92 appearances for the Romanian club, scoring 24 goals providing 14 assists. After an impressive start with Genk, Rangers snapped him up on loan.

Hagi put in some impressive performances in the Jupiler Pro League in the first half of the season. In 14 games, he found the back of the net three times while providing 4 assists.

After losing to Kilmarnock earlier this month, the Gers earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Livingston FC. They couldn’t follow it up against St. Johnstone last weekend, where the game ended in a 2-2 draw. This has led to the team falling 12 points behind league leaders Celtic in the race for the Premiership title.

However, they are still in the lead to progress to the next round of the Europa League after making a comeback against Braga, who led 2-0 at the hour mark last Thursday. And one of the players responsible for their comeback was Ianis Hagi.

The 21-year-old scored two goals, including a superb free-kick at home. He has been in fine form since moving to Glasgow. He has also scored and assisted once each in five Premiership games and is one of the best players for the Gers at the moment. He has shown his best in the much-needed situations and looks promising. Hence, a permanent move for Hagi must not be avoided.

The Romanian international is the only attacking midfielder available at Gerrard’s disposal. Despite other midfielders being present in the ranks, Hagi has provided Rangers with some creativity in the middle of the park. In a short time, he has impressed the club and its fans with his performances.

Hagi is also capable of playing on both sides of the attacking line and he provides the manager with various options to choose from. His presence on the field has helped Rangers return to winning ways and his potential is already known to the Ibrox faithful.

Verdict

Despite being only 21, he has been a game-changer for the Gers and has a lot more to offer in the years to come if he develops under proper guidance, he can go on to become one of the club’s best players.

Hence, Rangers should do everything possible to sign the Romanian talent permanently and keep him at the club for a long time.
