Why Raul Jimenez to Chelsea would ensure them a strong attack

According to Evening Standard, Scottish television pundit Craig Burley has urged Chelsea to sign Wolves striker Raul Jimenez when the summer transfer window commences.

Jimenez, 28, has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League since joining Wolves in the summer of 2018 from Benfica.

The Mexican’s impressive performances in his time in the Premier League has also garnered attention from Premier League rivals Manchester United, as per the report.

Meanwhile, the Blues have endured a decent spell so far under Frank Lampard’s management. Though they have had limited players due to injuries to several players, the youngsters in the squad have done a brilliant job.

Tammy Abraham is one of the best players in the squad as he has been the lone striker throughout the campaign. The Englishman has scored 13 goals so far and is Chelsea’s top scorer.

However, Abraham has done the damage for the majority of the season without enough support from the other strikers. Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi have failed to convince the manager and have eventually ended up on the bench but the former picked up the pace in the last few weeks before season suspension.

Though the Blues have done a decent job, the manager should look to bring in reinforcements if they are to do a better job. They need to add depth to their squad and therefore, signing Wolves’ Raul Jimenez would be a good move.

Jimenez has developed into one of the best strikers in the past couple of years and has led Wolves to Europa League qualification. After racking up 13 goals and 8 assists last season, the striker has scored 13 goals this term with some games yet to be played this season.

The Mexico international has gone from strength to strength in the last two years and has made 328 career appearances. His experience would be a huge boost to the Blues squad if he joins them and he would definitely add firepower to their attack given his ability to find the back of the net regularly.

Verdict

With Giroud and Batshuayi not really offering Abraham the required competition, Chelsea are in dire need of strikers to bolster their attack. Jimenez could be crucial for them, whilst adding the much-needed depth in the squad.
