As per Spanish publication AS, Real Madrid are looking to sell winger Lucas Vazquez at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old has been a Los Blancos player all his career except for one season when he played for Espanyol in 2014/15. He has been a regular member of the squad and also has helped the La Liga giants lift several trophies.
Though he has not been a regular member this term, Vazquez has been available to the team and has done his part well. He may not be the superior forward in Zinedine Zidane’s team but he has been an able back-up in demanding situations. Thus, the manager should keep hold of him beyond the summer.
Real Madrid have done a decent job so far after a disastrous last campaign. Ever since Cristiano Ronaldo left, they have struggled to find someone of that elite mentality to spearhead their attack alongside Karim Benzema.
Despite signing Eden Hazard, Madrid are yet to play at their best. The Belgian has struggled with injuries so far and Benzema has also struggled with form of late. On the right side of the attack, Gareth Bale, Rodrigo Goes and Vazquez are the available players.
While the Welshman’s future still remains uncertain, Brazilian youngster Rodrigo has just arrived at the club and has little experience. Thus, the Spanish giants should keep hold of Vazquez as he could be a crucial member if Bale leaves.
The Spanish international has made over 200 appearances for Los Blancos and is one of the most experienced players in the squad. He has featured regularly in the past five seasons and has also scored some crucial goals for Madrid.
Vazquez is capable of playing anywhere across the front line and his versatility could be a huge boost for the team. He was also a key figure in Real Madrid’s Champions League successes in the past few years and this season, he has scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists in 14 games.
He could still play a huge role under Zidane whenever any of the first-team players get injured or needs rest. His experience would also be helpful for the team. Thus, Madrid should not let go of the Spaniard.
With Bale’s uncertain future and several other issues in their attacking unit, it would be wise of Los Blancos to keep hold of Vazquez. In addition, the manager should also be able to bring in reinforcements in the summer to add depth and firepower to their attack.
