Why Robby McCrorie to West Ham would solve their goalkeeping issues

According to Daily Record, West Ham have been monitoring young Rangers shot-stopper Robby McCrorie, who is currently on loan with Livingston FC.

McCrorie, 22, came through the ranks of Rangers’ youth system and played for several clubs on loan including Queen of the South FC. He was sent on loan last January again to Livingston and he has been brilliant for the Lions.

The youngster has, in fact, been in sensational form for the past two years wherever he has played. His growth to the top of his game has been incredible, attracting the attention of West Ham, as per the report.

Meanwhile, the Hammers have endured a disappointing campaign so far. After Manuel Pellegrini was sacked, David Moyes’ second term as manager got off to a flying start but the results didn’t last long. They succumbed to 8 defeats in their last 12 league games and are currently 16th in the league table.

The Goalkeeping Woes

Apart from their attacking issues, the hammers have faced issues at the back, especially in the goalkeeping department. Polish international Lukasz Fabianksi did a decent job until he picked up a hip injury. This sent him out of action for several months.

During that period, Roberto Jimenez deputized in the place of the former Arsenal man and the Spaniard displayed some of his worst displays. He was eventually sent on loan to Deportivo Alaves in January.

David Martin also played in 5 games, conceding 6 goals but put in a decent show. Winter signing Darren Randolph hasn’t featured this season yet. Thus, to improve their goalkeeping department, signing Rangers’ McCrorie would be a good decision by the Hammers.

McCrorie has been in sensational form in the past two years. He has done enough to impress at the age of 22. In 32 games this term, he has kept 7 clean sheets across all competitions and could only get better with the required experience.

The Scottish U21 international has already made a name for himself by coming through various age-groups for the nation. He can be seen as a successor to Fabianski as the youngster has all the qualities to succeed at the highest level. This is evident from his performances and progress so far.

Verdict

With a lack of quality in their goalkeeping department, West Ham should make sure they bring in young and in-form players for the future. McCrorie could provide them with the much-needed depth. Thus, the Hammers should lure the Scotsman to the London Stadium this summer.
