Why Robin Gosens would be a fantastic fit Leicester City
According to The Sun, Leicester City are interested in signing Atalanta star Robin Gosens ahead of the next season.
The report suggests that the Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has tracked his progress throughout the campaign and has targeted him as a replacement for Ben Chilwell, who signed for Chelsea a few days back.
However, Leicester could face competition as Juventus, Inter Milan and Hertha Berlin are also keen on securing Gosens’ services. (h/t The Sun)
Profile
Gosens flourished through the ranks of Vitesse Arnheim’s youth system and joined Heracles Almelo in the summer of 2015. After making 70 appearances for Heracles, he moved to Atalanta in 2017. He immediately established himself as a key figure in the squad and has gone on to make 105 appearances for the Serie A outfit so far.
Gosens was impressive with Atalanta this past season, scoring 10 goals and providing 8 assists in 42 games across all competitions. He played a key role in helping his side reach the quarterfinals of the Champions League competition.
The left-back’s impressive performances have also earned him a call up to Joachim Low’s German national team.
Gosens – A productive left-back for Leicester City
Ben Chilwell joined Chelsea a few days back leaving Rodgers with just two options on the side left side of the defence.
Young LukeThomas just broke into the squad and showed potential in the last few weeks of the 2019/20 campaign. However, he is inexperienced and needs to develop a lot more. Christian Fuchs is the other left-back at Rodgers’ disposal. But the Austrian is already 34 and reaching the twilight of his career. Thus, an established and in-form left-back is a must in the summer.
In that regard, Gosens would be a fantastic addition to the squad. The left-back was in sensational form last season and was a key player for Atalanta at both ends of the pitch. He finished as the fourth-highest goal scorer and the second-highest assist provider for the club last season despite being playing in one of the most defensive leagues in Europe.
He can be the ideal replacement for Chilwell at left-back and would also bring in a lot of quality to the squad as well.

Verdict
At 26, Gosens is entering the peak years of his career. And with Chilwell having departed, he can walk straight into Rodgers’ starting XI. He would definitely provide Leicester with some much-needed quality and would also help them with extra goals.
Thus, the Foxes should try to lure the German to King Power Stadium this summer and enjoy his best in the coming years.
