Why Samuel Chukwueze to Chelsea would boost their attacking options
According to the Metro, Villarreal forward Samuel Chukwueze is a long-term target for Chelsea and the Nigerian has expressed his dream of playing for the English outfit.
Chukwueze, 20, came through the ranks of Villarreal’s youth system. He was promoted to the club’s senior set-up two years back. Since then, he has been a regular member of the squad for the Yellow Submarine.
The Nigerian’s eye-catching performances in the past two years also attracted interests from several other top teams including Liverpool and Manchester City, as per the report. He was part of the side that finished 8th last season and has continued with the fine form so far.
Thus, Chelsea making a move for him would be a wise decision.
The Blues have done a decent job under Frank Lampard as they are currently 4th in the league table. Though defensively they have not been up to the mark, their attacking unit, led by youngster Tammy Abraham, has been brilliant.
The Englishman scored 13 goals before he picked up an injury in the latter stages. In the wide areas, Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi have also shown signs of promises. On the right side of the frontline Willian has been a regular starter, whereas Pedro has fallen down the pecking order.
However, with both of their contracts coming to an end in the summer. And should they end up leaving, the manager would fall short of options on the right-wing. Hence, it is high time that Lampard brings in reinforcements for the next season.
In that case, Villarreal’s Chukwueze would be a suitable option for the London-based club.
Chukwueze is one of the rising stars in La Liga, given his form and consistency in the last two years. After racking up 10 goals and 4 assists across all competitions in the last campaign, he has continued with the same form this term, contributing with 4 goals and 4 assists in 30 games.

The Nigerian would definitely add depth to the Chelsea squad. And, given his current run of form, his inclusion in Lampard’s squad would be a boost to their attacking unit.

At 20, Chukwueze has a huge future ahead. He would turn out to be a valuable member under Lampard’s guidance if he is able to replicate the same form. With the futures of Pedro and Willian uncertain, Lampard needs to strengthen his attacking ranks. Thus, Chelsea should attempt to lure the Villarreal star to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
