Why selling Andreas Pereira would be sensible by Manchester United
According to The Express, Manchester United could sell Andreas Pereira at the end of the campaign to make room for the highly-coveted Jack Grealish.
Pereira, 24, came through PSV Eindhoven and United’s youth ranks and was sent to Spanish sides Granada and Valencia on different loan spells to improve his game. He had a successful time at Mestalla Stadium, where he featured in 29 games for Valencia.
In the last term, he was in and out of United’s squad but showed promising signs of being a key player in the team’s attack. And United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given him enough opportunities this season.
The Brazil international has featured in 34 games this season. In the process, he has scored only 1 goal and assisted 4 times. His performance this season has been below par and that was evident in the 0-2 loss to Burnley.
Meanwhile, United have endured a mixed season so far but back-to-back wins against Chelsea and Watford have propelled them to 5th position in the league. They have been inconsistent throughout the campaign and that has brought out the lack of quality in the team.
Pereira was expected to be the creative hub for United after impressing initially with the first-team. But everything looks to have changed. As per Whoscored, he has registered 1.6 shots and 1.3 key passes per game in the league. whereas, new signing Bruno Fernandes, who has just featured in 3 Premier League games has better stats with 3.3 shots and 2.3 key passes.
Fernandes has been in sublime form since his arrival and has also put in match-winning performances in the past few weeks. And he deserves to be the first choice in the attacking midfield position. United also have veteran Juan Mata in the creativity department and hence, they should sell Pereira in the summer.
The 24-year-old’s performances have not been good enough and yet, continuing to select him only shows the lack of quality. He has not contributed much and needs to improve his game.
The manager has to bring in reinforcements to the squad for the next season and that can be done only if they part ways with some of the players who have not been up to the mark.

Verdict
The Brazilian was left out of the squad against Watford and there are chances he could be on the bench for the rest of the season.
Therefore, selling Pereira would be a good decision for the club and the player.
