Drew McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar to win the WWE title at WrestleMania 36
A new era began on Raw after WrestleMania 36 with the crowning of a new WWE Champion.
The Beast Brock Lesnar was slayed by Drew McIntyre and a story that started more than a decade ago finally finished.
McIntyre exorcised a lot of his demons from his previous WWE stint and now has finally reached the summit.
It is to be seen what the ceiling is for the Scot, but he already has created history by becoming the first British WWE Champion.
WWE creative did a bang-up job of setting the rivalry between Lesnar and McIntyre. However, they could create another intriguing angle with one big star challenging the Scottish Psychopath.
Monday Night Messiah calling
Seth Rollins didn’t have a huge WrestleMania 36 bout but did his bit against Kevin Owens. The Monday Night Messiah didn’t have a win to celebrate at the event, but he should be the one to challenge McIntyre next.
Now, Lesnar does deserve a rematch but the Beast could do with a break or start a feud with someone else.
Rollins, for his part, has been rejuvenated with his heel persona. Credit should be given to the Fiend for bringing this out of Rollins, however, the Architect has been excellent with his mic skills since turning heel.
McIntyre isn’t a babyface yet, however, he has the crowd behind him, even though there isn’t one in any WWE arena at the moment.
Rollins is someone who can antagonise his rivals and has the backing of the AOP and Murphy too.
Odds against McIntyre
Rollins isn’t averse to taking help from his followers and this would allow for great storytelling too.
The Architect and McIntyre have met several times in the past but the stakes have never been this high.
The bigger the storyline, the better Rollins becomes with his promos. McIntyre, for his part, has also been great with his words leading up to the WrestleMania bout.
We also would see two of the best in the ring working together, and they can carry this forward till Money in the Bank.
WWE have messed up certain title rivalries, such as Goldberg vs Roman Reigns. They then changed it to Goldberg vs Braun Strowman with no backstory at all.
Becky Lynch vs Shayna Baszler, Charlotte vs Rhea Ripley, the Boneyard match and the Firefly Fun House match are examples of how creative got it right over a few weeks.
Things could be made interesting with Lesnar also in the scene and a triple threat match. However, Rollins vs McIntyre is a tasty rivalry, but only if the right treatment is given.
