Why Tottenham must do everything to beat Arsenal to the signature of this left-footed Brazilian wizard

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed another superb campaign under Mauricio Pochettino but the manager is yet to win a trophy with the club. Spurs finished 3rd behind champions Manchester City and runners-up Manchester United.

They amassed a total of 77 points, winning 23 games, drawing 8, and losing 7. England captain Harry Kane endured another fruitful campaign, scoring 30 goals in the league. The two time Golden Boot winner was pipped by Mohammed Salah this time around, who scored 32 goals to quash Kane’s chances of winning it a third straight time.

The Lilywhites are buzzing after Pochettino and Kane were given new extended contracts, which keeps them at the club until 2023 and 2024 respectively. Now that the manager’s future is clear, he can get down to starting his business in the transfer market. Spurs have not yet made a signing this summer.

One player that has reportedly been linked with the club is Bordeaux midfielder Malcom. The 21-year-old Brazilian has made a name for himself this season with his performances for the club. He made 32 appearances in the Ligue 1, scoring 12 goals and providing 7 assists. The Brazilian is exceptional on the ball, running with flair and tenacity.

Malcom is a pure dribbler of the ball with his direct runs against opponents making him a hard man to mark. He’s also got a decent shot, often scoring long-range goals this past season. The Brazilian loves to cut in from the wing and go for the blinder.

He would be a great addition to the Tottenham side, who would require a player in the position if playmaker Christian Eriksen decides to make the move to Barcelona. There are reports linking the Dane with the Spanish club.

Bordeaux have rated the Brazilian at around €50million, which is a modest fee considering today’s market scenario. The signing of Malcom will surely prove to be a huge hit at the White Hart Lane.

Arsenal have also been linked with the player. They have already completed the signing of Juventus right-back Stephan Lichsteiner for a free transfer. If Pochettino fails to make the signing, the club would fall behind their rivals in terms of signings.

It is absolutely vital that Daniel Levy makes an attacking addition to the squad. The player’s price could only rise after the World Cup and it would be best to get the deal as soon as possible.
