Why Tottenham should plot a move for Luka Jovic this summer
According to The Mirror, Tottenham have been offered a chance to sign Real Madrid forward Luka Jovic at the end of the season.
Jovic, 22, came through the ranks of Red Star Belgrade’s youth system and moved to Benfica in 2016. Due to limited opportunities, he was sent on loan to Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt, where he made the most of his two-season spell.
After racking up 9 goals in his first campaign in Germany, the youngster came under the limelight for his exploits last season. He scored 17 goals in the Bundesliga and added 10 more to his name in the Europa League, helping Frankfurt reach the semi-finals of the competition.
His impressive performances earned him a big-money move to Spain with Real Madrid last summer but the Serbian hasn’t settled well, scoring just 4 goals throughout the campaign.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho’s men have been inconsistent despite moving higher up the table after what seemed to be a disastrous campaign. Their performance hasn’t been the same since the Champions League final last season and they have struggled without depth in the squad.
The manager had to do with a lot of injuries to his key players and they have slipped to 8th position in the league standings after failing to win any of the last three league games.
One of the main reasons for their below-par performance is the lack of strikers in their ranks. The injury to Harry Kane has put them on the back foot and Spurs need to reinforce their attacking unit. Lucas Moura was used as a lone striker in the absence of Kane but the Brazilian hasn’t made much of an impact in that role.
Therefore, it would be sensible to bring in strikers during the summer after failing to replace Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen, both of whom departed before the start of this season. In that case, going for Luka Jovic would be a good choice by the North Londoners.
The 22-year-old has been deprived of opportunities under Zinedine Zidane but is capable of working wonders for any team. He was a key figure for Frankfurt last season in the attacking unit and helped them to a 7th place finish last season.
Jovic is an out and out striker and could do a better job in the absence of Kane. He is still young and has a lot of room for development. He has the ability to become a world-class forward if he can reproduce the same form he showed last season.

Verdict
It is the right time for Spurs to bring a change in their attacking unit and Jovic could provide them with the required depth and quality. He has already shown his goalscoring prowess and is capable of bolstering their attack.
Therefore, Tottenham should grab the opportunity and secure the service of the Serbian international as early as this summer.
