Why Tottenham should make a move for Wolves star Raul Jimenez

As per Soccer Link in France (h/t Football.london), Tottenham are eyeing a move for Wolves star Raul Jimenez to bolster their attacking unit in the summer.

Jimenez, 28, has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League since his arrival at Wolves in the summer of 2018. The Mexican has become an instant hit in England and is one of the key players under Nuno Espirito Santo.

The former Atletico Madrid man is in the form of his life and has been linked with a move to several top teams including Tottenham, as per the report. And Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is keen to land him in North London.

The Lilywhites have struggled since their Champions League final defeat to Liverpool last season. They started on a low note under Mauricio Pochettino, who was eventually sacked in December. They got off to a good start under Mourinho but that didn’t last long.

The Harry Kane problem

The injury to Harry Kane has put the Englishman out of action since the turn of New Year and that has seen the team decline. Spurs are currently 8th in the league table and have little hopes of qualifying for the Champion League.

Mourinho’s options in the attack were limited and he was forced to turn towards Lucas Moura to lead the attack. But things didn’t go well for the Brazilian as he failed to score. Heung Min-Son also had to undergo surgery and that left the team in crisis.

Therefore, to perform well next season, the manager should bring in reinforcements to the attacking unit and Wolves’ Jimenez would be a perfect fit for the squad.

Jimenez has been in sensational form for the past couple of years as he bagged 13 goals in the league last season and has continued with the fine run this term. He has already equalled his tally from last season with a few more games yet to be played.

He has made over 320 career appearances and would undoubtedly add experience into Mourinho’s squad, whilst bringing healthy competition to Kane. He is in the form of his life and Spurs should make a move for him in the summer as he could add the much-needed depth to the squad.

Verdict

With a lack of options up front, Tottenham are in dire need of strikers. And Jimenez could provide them with quality and goals if he joins them. He is 28 and has a lot more to offer at the highest level, and could be a valuable addition if he is able to replicate the same form.
