According to 90min (h/t Football.london), one of the clubs Paulo Dybala has been offered to is Tottenham. The player’s representatives have offered his services to the ‘big six’ clubs in the Premier League such as Arsenal, Chelsea, both Manchester clubs and Liverpool.
The Argentine has been mooted to make the move away from Juventus after featuring sporadically for Andrea Pirlo and a January or next summer exit could be on the cards. His current contract also expires in one and a half years.
Dybala, 27, came through the youth ranks of Instituto Cordoba and joined Italian side Palermo in 2012. His impressive performance with the club earned him a move to Turin with Juventus, where he established himself as one of the best forwards in Europe.
He scored regularly at a decent rate in his first four years with the Old Lady. However, his form took a dip last season. But he took his game to the next level under Maurizio Sarri, scoring 17 goals and providing 14 assists in 46 games across all competitions (source – Transfermarkt). He has played 10 games this season under Pirlo.
Spurs are having one of their best ever seasons, both on and off the field. The club made some fantastic signings in the form of Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty, Gareth Bale and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. They have played their part in securing a top spot in the league for the team and have also done well in Europe.
While it would be hard to point out flaws in the team, there do remain some and one of them is the form of Gareth Bale. His big homecoming was supposed to kick start his career and in turn benefit Spurs.
After 8 games, Bale looks far from his usual best. It is only due to Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son’s prolific levels of scoring that Spurs haven’t felt the effects.
A player like Dybala would solve a lot of those issues. He might be struggling for form this season but the forward is as prolific as it gets. In the presence of Ronaldo, he managed to get into double figures in terms of goals and assists in the league last season and that says something.
Dybala would add to the quality and depth of the Spurs’ attack and take some of the burden of scoring from Kane and Son. The Argentine is a world-class operator in front of goal and would further strengthen the team’s trophy ambitions this season.
