Why Tottenham should return for Chelsea star Kurt Zouma after failed summer efforts
According to L’Equipe (h/t Football.london), Tottenham tried to sign Kurt Zouma in the summer transfer window. Chelsea, however, slapped a price tag of €45million on him and knocked back any offers that were below the valuation.
Everton were also in the mix to sign him but they faced the same issue. Zouma was actually interested in the offers in the hopes of starting afresh but has now gone on to establish himself as one of the first names in Chelsea’s XI.
Zouma can be a fine addition to Spurs’ backline
Spurs conducted some fine business this season when they signed the likes of Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Carlos Vinicius, etc. However, one area that perhaps needed more attention was central defence.
Sure, they managed to get Joe Rodon but he is too young to be making an impact. There’s a reason Mourinho went after one of his former charges because he probably knew Zouma would become a vital player at Chelsea.
After an initial few difficult seasons at the club, Zouma has cemented his place in the backline. He has been featuring in almost every game this season.
Mourinho could seriously use someone like Zouma right now as it would shore up the Spurs defence. Eric Dier has played at centre-back while Ben Davies too has had to chip in there. The other two options have been Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez.

With Alderweireld ageing and Dier and Davies being makeshift centre-backs, it would be sensible for Tottenham to return for Zouma and splurge on him. He is entering his prime years as a defender and can be a very good addition to the team.
