WWE released Zelina Vega and she hinted why that happened in a tweet
Zelina Vega was the latest star released by WWE and that sent shock waves across the wrestling world.
This news came out of the blue and just a couple of hours before the latest SmackDown show. Vega had been on SmackDown after the WWE Draft and even battled for the Raw Women’s title recently.
She seemed set for a decent run as a wrestler after her managerial duties were ended. Vega had achieved a lot during her time with Andrade but most of her good work came on the microphone.
However, all that seems to be moot now given that she has been released by WWE. Vega was left a little broken in her stream recently and that could be one reason why she was released.
Why was Vega released?
One rumour doing the rounds is about Vega’s streams and how popular she had become. La Muneca’s Twitch gets a ton of followers and WWE recently had told all its stars to stop using their third-party accounts.
This includes YouTube and Cameo and WWE wants to capitalise on the popularity of these outlets. Many WWE stars are upset regarding this, and this could be one reason why Vega was released as she is extremely big online.
She is also huge in the cosplay world and some of her costumes have been perfect.
Another hint she gave away was regarding the fact that she wanted to unionise, something that WWE doesn’t seem to alright with.

WWE stars are most independent contractors and don’t get the same benefits that employees of an organisation do.
Vega was backed by several stars from other promotions as they wanted to unionise too. WWE is in a bit of a pickle regarding their treatment of their stars.
The recent order from Vince McMahon over third-party outlets hasn’t gone down well, and it would be a major surprise if Vega is the only release from WWE.
