Ottman Azaitar was to fight at UFC 257 but the fighter was fired from the promotion

The weigh ins for UFC 257 saw a lot of concern over a couple of bouts. The card was down to 11 fights after Ottman Azaitar pulled out from his clash against Matt Frevola.

No reason was given but Dana White had stated it was a safety issue. Many would have thought he caught Covid-19 or picked up an injury, but there was more to that.

Rumours started circulating that Azaitar was out of the UFC and Dana White explained just what happened.

Why was Azaitar fired from the UFC?

White was speaking to BT Sport who then asked him about the cut. The UFC president shared an incredible story about how Azaitar broke the bubble rules at Fight Island and even brought up how people from outside entered the hotel

“He and his team cut their wristbands off and got them to people on the outside, one guy.

White seemed upset in all this and then went on to highlight that there was a bag in play too.

“This guy got inside the bubble, went in through a room, shimmied down four balconies, went in through the balcony, and dropped off a bag of we don’t know what.”

White confirmed that all this was captured on camera and that Azaitar was not only cut from the card but he was also fired from the UFC.

The bubble at Fight Island has many strict rules with stars posting how they have to be in quarantine before a fight.

They also get tested regularly and this move from Azaitar was crazy, to say the least.

A promising career cut short

While we still haven’t heard from Azaitar, White taking such a drastic decision must have meant something serious had gone down.

The 30-year-old Azaitar was to hit his prime soon and was one of the few undefeated MMA stars in the UFC.

Azaitar was 13-0 in his MMA career ahead of his proposed UFC fight. He defeated Khama Worthy in his last outing but all of this is a moot point.

He was 2-0 in his UFC career and this is one of the more crazy stories coming out in recent years.

We also need to know what the bag contained, and all this will be shared sooner or later.
