Rose Namajunas faced Manon Fiorot in her latest fight but was Trevor Wittman in her corner?
Rose Namajunas made a move up as she fought Manon Fiorot at UFC Fight Night: Gane vs. Spivak.
This was her flyweight debut as the former Women’s Strawweight Champion was looking for a new challenge in a new division.
However, before the fight even started there was something big brewing. Namajunas, who trains under Trevor Wittman, was seen with her partner, Pat Barry in her corner.
Wittman was missing from the corner, and there was some confirmation about why he wasn’t there. UFC fans confirmed that during the broadcast it was claimed that Namajunas had switched gyms, which meant Wittman was not going to be there.
Wittman and Namajunas have been great as a pair, however, all of that seems to be over. Barry, who is the fiance of Namajunas, has taken over the coaching of the former champion, and it doesn’t seem to have worked well.
Did Rose Namajunas defeat Manon Fiorot?
Manon Fiorot was fighting in front of her home crowd and she put on quite a performance. The former two-time Women’s Strawweight Champion also had some problems with her finger but Barry wasn’t listening to it.
Rose Namajunas could not beat Fiorot as the French woman picked up a unanimous win. Fiorot is now on an 11-fight winning streak and her only loss has come in the first fight of her career, which was not in the UFC.
Fiorot is keen on fighting for the title next, and it will be interesting to see if the UFC sets this up next.
However, the big talking point is the future of Namajunas. She has now lost her last two fights, and there is no chance she will get a title shot after this performance.
The American is still one of the biggest names in the UFC, but she will have to get back to winning ways first, and it is to be seen who is the next opponent for Thug Rose.
