Why WWE made the right call by naming Mustafa Ali as the leader of Retribution

Mustafa Ali shocked the WWE world as he turned out to be the leader of Retribution

Mustafa Ali has been one of the many overlooked stars from WWE’s end. There was a time when the 205 Live star was touted to be the next big thing but his move up to SmackDown didn’t work out.

Many were convinced that Ali was the hacker on SmackDown. However, WWE seemed to drop those plans completely and Ali was left in the doldrums.

He was then traded to Raw without much fanfare and wasn’t really given a push. Ali was tagged alongside Ricochet, Apollo Crews and Cedric Alexander as they took on the Hurt Business.

He even avoided joining the Business even when Alexander jumped ship and moved to the faction. Things, however, took an interesting turn on this week’s Raw. Ali was looking for another win over Hurt Business leader MVP but Retribution interfered.

The Raw faction surrounded the ring as the Hurt Business members and Ali were in the ring. While it seemed he was to fight with the Business, Ali moved out and told Retribution to attack.

It was later revealed that Ali was the leader of Retribution and that was a great call by WWE.

Ali getting his dues

While many had suggested, including me, that Dominik Dijakovic (T-Bar) was the leader of Retribution, things seem to be completely different.

WWE had messed up the reveal of Retribution and dragged their feet regarding the faction. Many fans had predicted the members of the faction as soon as they spoke during a couple of vignettes. But this was a fantastic move from WWE.

Firstly, this was a huge twist for the WWE Universe since everyone had thought that T-Bar was the leader.

Ali was the last person anyone would believe is the Retribution leader as he was close to joining The Business.

Secondly, Ali would be the right man to hit out at WWE. He is extremely talented but looked down upon. He had a gimmick set up on SmackDown as the hacker, but WWE wasted that too.

If there is anyone on the roster, and there are many, who want a piece of WWE, it has to be Ali.

The former cop could also take up the role of being frustrated by the authorities and losing faith in it. He has been on one side of the law and maybe he is ready to switch over to the other side.

It will be interesting to see what is next for Ali but this was one of the most shocking moments of the year.

Mustafa Ali could lead Retribution into the light (WWE)

No one would have predicted this, and Ali should get a new name for being named as the leader of Retribution.

Raw has been poor in recent weeks but this one segment almost, almost, saved this weeks show.

Ali even responded on social media after joining the faction and this sets things up really well for the upcoming Raws.
