Predicted 3-5-2 Sheffield United XI to face Brentford
Sheffield United will travel to Griffin Park this Tuesday night as they gear up to take on Brentford in the 2018/19 EFL Championship.
Chris Wilder’s men are without a win in three games in a row, after being held to a 2-2 draw over the weekend by Rotherham United. Currently fifth in the Championship standings, five points below leaders Norwich City, the Blades must get back to winning ways on Tuesday to keep up the pressure on the teams above them in the standings.
Team News
Kean Bryan and Jake Wright have recovered from their respective injuries and are available for selection. No other concerns for the manager heading into the midweek game.
Here’s how Sheffield United might line up against the Bees on Tuesday night;
Manager: Chris Wilder
Formation: 3-5-2
Dean Henderson (GK)
The Manchester United loanee has developed into an integral part of the team under Wilder and is a definite starter for the midweek encounter.
Chris Basham (CB)
The defender was on the scoresheet for the Blades in the weekend encounter. Should retain his spot on the right side of the back three.
John Egan (CB)
The 26-year-old has been a revelation since moving to Sheffield United in the summer. Will be looking to make a mark against his former club on his return to the Griffin Park.
Jack O’Connell (CB)
Completing the three-man defence for the visitors on Tuesday should be 24-year-old Jack O’Connell who hasn’t missed a single Championship game for the Blades this term.
Kieron Freeman (RWB)
The Welshman has been in solid form for the Blades and got an assist in the last game. Should hold on to his slot as the right-sided wing-back at the Griffin Park.
Mark Duffy (CM)
One of the goalscorers in the Saturday’s game, the 33-year-old is the source of creativity from the middle of the park for the Blades and should feature from the get-go.
Paul Cotts (CM)
The Scotsman did not start at the weekend, but is in line for a starting berth on Tuesday night, with John Fleck likely to make way for the 30-year-old.
Oliver Norwood (CM)
The 27-year-old has been in fine form since joining the club in the summer window. Should complete the midfield trifecta for the Blades on Tuesday.
Enda Stevens (LWB)
The Irishman has been a constant outlet going forward on the left side and got an assist on Saturday against the Millers. A definite starter as the left-sided wing-back.
Billy Sharp (ST)
The club captain is also the leading goalscorer for the Blades this season and is a guaranteed starter in the attack on Tuesday against the Bees.
Leon Clarke (ST)
The 33-year-old forward has struggled to reproduce the form from last season that saw him finish as the third-highest goalscorer. Should be given a chance in place of David McGoldrick on Tuesday.
