William Knight looks strong and fit ahead of his official UFC heavyweight debut at UFC Vegas 51

UFC fighter William Knight has put his trouble with making weight behind him and looks to make heavyweight his new home

William Knight missed weight by 12 pounds in his attempt to make the 206-pound limit for a light heavyweight bout against Maxim Grishin at UFC 271, entering the scales at 218 pounds on Friday morning at the UFC 271 official weigh-ins in Houston.

“I tried my best on short notice definitely not the kinda fighter I am and it definitely won’t happen again…. crazy I turn into the bad guy trying to save a fight on short notice….. im happy the real snakes have shed their skin today ill remember this moving forward for sure…. God has blessed me with this as a lesson and I’ll definitely make sure I do better next time…. fight is still on tomorrow at 8pm it’s now a heavyweight fight.”

William Knight lost the fight and forfeited 40 percent of his purse to Grishin (31-9-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) who accepted the matchup.

William Knight longs for career rejuvenation at Heavyweight

William Knight will face Devin Clark in his official move to heavyweight this weekend. Knight made his amateur debut in early 2016, compiling an 8-1 record before turning professional in 2018. As an amateur, Knight fought fellow UFC heavyweight Yorgan De Castro, with Knight winning the amateur MMA fight via unanimous decision, and De Castro winning a Muay Thai bout between the two via unanimous decision shortly before Knight turned professional.

He participated in Dana White’s Contender series 24 on August 13, 2019 and won the fight by TKO in the third round.

Knight made his UFC debut against Aleksa Camur at UFC 253 on September 27, 2020. He won the fight by unanimous decision. He is 3-1 in the UFC currently with one loss against Da Un Jung via unanimous decision.

His record currently stands at 11 wins and 3 losses and looked super strong and healthy at the weigh ins ahead of his scheduled fight against Clark.
