Marie Bouzkova versus Alison Riske-Amritraj

Marie Bouzkova reached the quarter-finals of the 2021 Wimbledon as well as the 2021 US Open. However, her performances have been a bit up and down this year. She has managed to defeat two American players Danielle Collins and Ann Li in the first two rounds respectively. The 23-year-old had to come back from a loss in the first set to win her first-round match 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. In round two, her performance was more convincing as she won 6-0 and 6-3.

Alison Riske is the third player from the United States to challenge Marie Bouzkova in the 2022 Wimbledon. The 2019 Wimbledon quarter-finalist won her round one match against Ylena In-Albbon 6-2, 6-4. She had to come back from a first-set loss against Maja Chwalinska to triumph 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 in round two.

Prediction: Alison Riske to win in three sets.

Diane Parry versus Ons Jabeur

The World No. 77 Diane Parry has won both her matches in Wimbledon 2022 so far with relative ease. She defeated Kaia Kanepi 6-4, 6-4 in round one followed by a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Mai Hontama.

Ons Jabeur has managed to recover well from a right knee injury she suffered during the Eastbourne International. The Tunisian tennis pro has been in fine form this year, winning the Madrid Open and the Berlin Open and reaching the finals of the Italian Open and Charleston Open. She has stormed into the third round of Wimbledon 2022 thanks to straight-set victories over Mirjam Bjorklund and Katarzyna Kawa in rounds one and two respectively.

Prediction: Ons Jabeur to win in straight sets.

Irina-Camelia Begu versus Jelena Ostapenko

Irina-Camelia Begu has looked quite impressive in her first two matches in the competition. She won her first-round match against Ekaterine Gorgodze 6-4, 6-1. The Romanian player backed up the win with another comprehensive performance in round two against Elisabetta Cocciaretto 6-4, 6-4. She has not managed to progress beyond round three of Wimbledon and if she has to make it to the fourth round, she will have to defeat the 2017 French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko.

The Latvian star won the Dubai Tennis Championship earlier in the year. She also made it to the finals of the recently-concluded Eastbourne International before losing to Petra Kvitova. In the first round, she defeated Oceane Dodin and followed it up with another win in the second round against Yanina Wickmayer.

Prediction: Jelena Ostapenko to win in three sets.

Maria Sakkari versus Tatjana Maria

Maria Sakkari has been quite good, especially with her serves. She had five aces to her name in both her matches. In round one, she went past Zoe Hives 6-1, 6-4 and followed it up with another win in straight sets in round two versus Viktoriya Tomova.

Tatjana Maria has won both her matches in the competition in three sets. In her first match, she lost the first set to Astra Sharma but won in the end 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. In the second round, she defeated Sorana Cirstea 6-3, 1-6, 7-5.

Prediction: Maria Sakkari

Lesia Tsurenko versus Jule Niemeier

The Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko has reached the third round of Wimbledon for the second time in her career. The 33-year-old ousted Jodie Anna Burrage in the first round 6-2, 6-3. In round two, she had to come back after losing the first set to fellow Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina and win the match 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Jule Niemeier got past Xiyu Wang in the first match and managed to knock out the second seed Anett Kontaveit in the second round with relative ease. She won 6-4, 6-0 against the Estonians. Niemeier will be heading into the third round with plenty of confidence but she will have to keep performing to the best of her abilities to keep progressing in the most prestigious tennis tournament of the year.

Prediction: Jule Niemeier in three sets.

Zhang Shuai versus Caroline Garcia

The experienced Zhang Shuai has won both her matches in straight sets. She defeated Misaki Doi 6-4, 6-0 in the first match. In her second-round clash against Marta Kostyuk, she had to fight hard in the first set. After winning set one, she eventually won the match 7-6 (8-6), 6-2.

Caroline Garcia has reached the fourth round of Wimbledon on only one occasion previously. She lost the first set of her first-round match versus Yuriko Miyazaki but came back strong to eventually win the match 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (10-4). In her second-round clash, the 28-year-old broke the hearts of the fans in attendance as she defeated home-favorite Emma Raducanu thanks to her impeccable performance.

Prediction: Caroline Garcia to win in three sets.

Heather Watson versus Kaja Juvan

After Emma Raducanu’s exit from Wimbledon 2022, fans would hope that former British No. 1, Heather Watson would be able to put in a miraculous performance going forward. However, she has never been able to go beyond the third round in Wimbledon. She managed to recover from a loss in the first set to win 6-7 (7-9), 7-5, 6-2 in her round one match against Tamara Korpatsch. In the second round, she won in straight sets against Wang Qiang but had to fight hard in both of them.

Kaja Juvan sprung an upset in the first round as she ousted an in-form Beatriz Haddad-Maia 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. In the second round, the Slovenian tennis star won against Dalma Galfi 7-5, 6-3.

Prediction: Kaja Juvan to win in three sets.

Angelique Kerber versus Elise Mertens

The 2018 Wimbledon champion, Angelique Kerber, won the Strasbourg 2022 competition that culminated last month and will be looking to win the fourth Grand Slam in her career. However, there is still a long way to go. The 34-year-old defeated Kristina Mladenovic 6-0, 7-5 and booked her ticket to round two. She won her second-round match against Magda Linette with ease.

Elise Mertens has been in decent form in the doubles circuit but she would want to put in a memorable performance as a singles competitor as well. She managed to reach round four of Wimbledon back in 2019. She got a walkover during the third set of her first match against Camila Osorio. In round two, she fought hard to defeat Panna Udvardy 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5.

Prediction: Angelique Kerber to win in straight sets.
