The quarter-finals of Wimbledon 2022 are almost upon us. We have some mouth-watering matches lined up and in this article, we will take a look at the couple of matches which will take place on 5th July.

Ons Jabeur

Tatjana Maria versus Jule Niemeier

Tatjana Maria has been on fire at Wimbledon this year. She has reached her first Grand Slam quarter-final. The 34-year-old won her first two matches against Astra Sharma and Sorana Cirstea. She did not start the campaign on a good note as she lost her first set. The veteran proved that it was just an aberration and started a dream run. It has seen her defeat the 5th seed Maria Sakkari in straight sets in round three and former French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko in round four.

Jule Niemeier is going to play her first Grand Slam quarter-final exactly like her opponent. She had not won any match at a Grand Slam before coming into Wimbledon 2022. However, she shocked the tennis world by defeating the second seed Anett Kontaveit in the second round. In the round of 16, she defeated Heather Watson in straight sets 6-2, and 6-4 to set up a clash with Tatjana Maria.

Head to head: 0-0.

Prediction: Tatjana Maria to win in three sets.

Marie Bouzkova versus Ons Jabeur

The 23-year-old Bouzkova is another player who has made it to the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam event for the first time in her career. She lost the first set of her first match at this year’s Wimbledon competition and has gone on to win every set she has played. The opponents she has beaten thus far are Danielle Collins, Ann Li, Alison Riske-Amritraj, and Caroline Garcia. She will have her task cut out when she faces the world No. 2 Ons Jabeur in the quarter-finals.

Ons Jabeur has stormed into the quarter-finals without dropping a single set. She has lost just 23 games across the 4 matches she has played till now. Ten of them came in her last match against Elise Mertens. The Tunisian is the favorite to win the competition as it stands. It would be her first Grand Slam triumph but she should not look past the talented Bouzkova.

Head to Head: 0-0.

Prediction: Ons Jabeur to win in straight sets.
