The most prestigious Grand Slam of the year, Wimbledon is going on in full swing and we have already seen some spectacular matches and a few monumental upsets.
Let’s take a look at the third-round matches that have been confirmed till now:
Cameron Norrie has been in some fine touch this year. He won the Delray Beach Open and the Lyon Open earlier this year. Norrie has defeated the two Spaniards Pablo Andujar and Jaume Munar in the first and second-round matches respectively to reach the third round of the Wimbledon for the second time in his career. He defeated Andujar in straight sets but had to fight real hard to win in the second round losing two out of the first three sets to Munar.
Steve Johnson faced Grigor Dimitrov in the first round. The latter gave a walkover in the middle of the second set. In round two, Johnson secured a victory in straight sets against Ryan Peniston.

Italian youngster Jannik Sinner is one player to watch out for. He won his first match at the Wimbledon tournament this year against three-time Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka. This was in the first round where the 20-year-old won 7-5,4-6, 6-3, 6-2. In round two, Sinner faced Sweden’s Mikael Ymer and once again won in four sets 6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.
Sinner will have his task cut out when he takes on the experienced John Isner in round three. Isner was the semi-finalist in the 2018 Wimbledon and that is also his best performance at a Grand Slam to date. The 37-year-old won his first-round match against Enzo Couacaud in a five-set affair. After losing two out of the first three sets, the veteran showed good resilience to eventually progress to round two. Isner faced the home-favorite and three-time Grand Slam winner Andy Murray in round two. After losing the first two sets, Murray did fight back to win the set three but Isner held his nerve to finish the match in four sets.

Prediction: Jannik Sinner to win in four sets.
The 30-year-old from Georgia won his first-round match against Lukas Rosol in five sets. In round two, he won against Quentin Halys in four sets. Before this edition of the Wimbledon, Basilashvili had never progressed beyond the first round of the competition.
Tim van Rijthoven managed to progress to the second round of Wimbledon 2022 after defeating the veteran Federico Delbonis in straight sets 7-6 (9-7), 6-1, 6-2. In round two, Rijthoven defeated this year’s Dallas Open and U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship winner, Reilly Opelka, in four sets.

Prediction: Tim van Rijthoven to win in four sets.
The defending champion Djokovic survived a momentary scare in round one to eventually win in four sets against Kwon Soon-woo. The 20-time Grand Slam winner eased past Thanasi Kokkinakis in round two as he won 6-1, 6-4, 6-2.
Fellow Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic won both the first and second round matches in four sets. The first win was against John Millman of Australia and the second was against Alejandro Tabilo from Chile.
Head to Head: 2-0 in favor of Novak Djokovic.
Prediction: Novak Djokovic to win in four sets.
Oscar Otte will be relatively fresh as he has played just 26 games over his first two matches at Wimbledon 2022. He won his first match of the campaign against Peter Gojowczyk 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 before getting a walkover during the first set of his second-round match against Chris Harrison.
Carlos Alcaraz is the rising star of men’s tennis at the moment. He has already won the Rio Open, Miami Open, Barcelona Open, and the Madrid Open this year. The talented Spaniard would love to add a Grand Slam to his resume this year itself. He had to fight hard for his first-round win against Jan-Lennard Struff. The youngster won 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 to progress to round two. He had a much more convincing win against Tallon Griekspoor in the second round as he won in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (7-0), 6-3.

The 24-year-old Frenchman Ugo Humbert won a five-set thriller in round one versus Tomas Martin Etcheverry of Argentina. Humbert caused a major upset in the second round as he ousted an in-form Casper Ruud in four sets after losing set one.
David Goffin from Belgium has had a smooth journey till now. He has won his first two matches against the Moldovan Radu Albot and Argentine Sebastian Baez in three sets each.
Head to Head: 1-0, in favor of Ugo Humbert.
Prediction: David Goffin to win in five sets.
Tommy Paul has won his first two matches comprehensively in three sets each. In round one he ousted the Spaniard Fernando Verdasco 6-1, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4). In the second-round clash, Paul looked even better as he defeated Adrian Mannarino 6-2, 6-4, 6-1.
The No. 1 Czech tennis player won his first-round match against the Argentine Federico Coria in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) before having a tense second-round clash against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina from Spain. The second-round match was a five-set thriller that Vesely won after dropping the first two out of the three sets to his opponent.

Prediction: Tommy Paul to win in four sets.
Frances Tiafoe is coming into this match on the back of two victories in straight sets against Andrea Vavassori and Maximilian Marterer in round one and round two respectively.
Tiafoe will be up against the talented Alexander Bublik in round three. Bublik will be looking to progress to the fourth round of Wimbledon for the first time in his career. The player from Kazakhstan has also won both his matches in the ongoing competition in straight sets. He defeated Marton Fucsovics in round one and Dusan Lajovic in round two.

Prediction: Alexander Bublik to win in four sets.
