Just three more matches left to crown the Wimbledon 2022 champion. Out of the four remaining players, only one of them has won a Grand Slam before.
Ons Jabeur has stormed into the semi-finals without dropping a single set. The Tunisian had not dropped a set in her first four matches before losing the first set of her quarter-final match against Marie Bouzkova. Jabeur came back strongly to win the following two sets to eventually win the match 3-6, 6-1, 6-1. This is her first semi-final appearance at a Grand Slam. An incredible feat because she suffered a right knee injury during the Eastbourne International tournament that preceded Wimbledon. World No. 2 will be looking to carry on with her fine form as she faces a rejuvenated Tatjana Maria in the semi-final.
Tatjana Maria’s performance at Wimbledon 2022 has been incredible. Her will to win against the odds and ability to keep fighting when her back is against the wall has been commended by fans all over the world. She might be 34 years old but has proved that age is nothing more than a number. The German has reached the semi-final of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career. By defeating her compatriot Jule Niemeier, she became the sixth female player in the Open Era to reach the semi-final of Wimbledon and the sixth woman from Germany. During her campaign, she has already defeated world No. 5 Maria Sakkari and the 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko. Maria has never defeated a top 4 player in her career.
She will have to be at her best in order to stop a rampaging Ons Jabeur who is on a 10-match winning streak.
Head to Head: 1-0, in favor of Tatjana Maria.
Prediction: Ons Jabeur to win in straight sets.
