Published by

The ATP 250 event – Winston-Salem Open is underway. Richard Gasquet and Lorenzo Musetti will lock horns in the round of 32 of the competition.

Lorenzo Musetti

Lorenzo Musetti

Fifth seed Lorenzo Musetti has won 19 matches this season out of the 38 he has played. He won his first-ever ATP title at the Hamburg European Open after defeating the in-form Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

However, his performances on either side of that monumental triumph has been quite ordinary. At the recently-concluded Cincinnati Masters, Musetti lost to eventual champion Borna Coric in the first round.

Richard Gasquet

The Frenchman has made it to the quarterfinals at Open Sud de France and the Estoril Open. He also made it to the semi-final of the Geneva Open before losing to Joao Sousa in straight sets.

Gaquet played his first-round match against Kamil Majchrzak. The Polish won the first set but Gasquet came back strongly to win the second. Gasquet was leading the third set 1-0 when his opponent couldn’t continue playing the match and was forced to retire.

Head-to-Head and Prediction

This will be the first meeting between Lorenzo Musetti and Richard Gasquet. Therefore, the head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0.

Musetti’s performances have been a tad better than what Gasquet has been able to come up with. The 36-year-old Gasquet will be looking to use his impressive serves to good effect. We are predicting a close three-set encounter and Musetti to come out victorious.

Prediction: Lorenzo Musetti in three sets.
