Wolves Opinion: Why Wolves must make a summer swoop for Danny Loader

According to a report from the Birmingham Mail, Wolves are planning a summer move for Reading youngster Danny Loader, who has also interested a number of other Premier League teams as well.

The 18-year-old striker has impressed over the past 12 months, making 22 appearances for Reading. He was called up to the first team by Jose Angel Gomes and the teenager vindicated his manager’s decision with a string of impressive displays, although he could muster only one goal in the Championship.

Reading are keen on extending his deal at the club which expires in 12 months’ time, but the Championship outfit will find it difficult to persuade him to remain at the Madejski Stadium due to interest from Premier League clubs, including Wolves.

Wolves seem to have an exciting project and the club showed their ambitions by spending big last summer following promotion to the Premier League. The heavy investment paid rich dividends as Nuno Espirito Santo’s men finished an impressive seventh in the table.

Nuno’s side will participate in the Europa League qualifiers ahead of the next season’ start which in itself is a massive achievement. Regardless of what happens in the qualifiers, Wolves must spend smartly once again this summer to help their manager achieve his objectives in the 2019/20 season.

The Wolves manager has shown his eye of developing and trusting young talent, with the likes of Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and Ruben Vinagre all performing extremely well in their debut Premier League campaign. Likewise, Loader is also an exciting talent having graduated from the Reading academy and at the age of 18, he has a big future ahead of him.

Loader has quickly become one of the most promising young players in the Championship, starring for the Royals this past season after initially finding himself in superb form in Premier League 2. Before being promoted to the senior team, he scored ten goals for Reading’s Under-23 side.

At the senior level, the teenager won the club’s Goal of the Season for his spectacular strike from distance, which left Middlesbrough goalkeeper, Darren Randolph with absolutely no chance.

The England youth international has been impressive in his breakthrough season with the Royals, showing a lot of promise. He looks a real talent at 18 and would be one for the future if Wolves manage to bring him to the Molineux. Loader could also quickly break into Wolves’ first-team and become a back-up for the likes of Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota next season.

Verdict

It’s certainly going to be an interesting summer ahead for Wolves, but there’s no doubting that Nuno should do everything in his powers to sign the talented Loader.
