Wolves Opinion: Why Amadou Diawara will be a good fit at the Molineux?
Back in January, TuttoMercatoWeb claimed that Wolves had made a bid for Napoli starlet, Amadou Diawara. However, it was knocked back by Napoli as they kept hold of the 21-year-old.
Amadou Diawara is regarded as one of the brightest young midfield talents in Italy. He broke into Napoli’s senior side in the 2017/18 season, managing up 27 appearances. With Jorginho’s departure to Chelsea last summer, he was expected to kick on and become a regular at Stadio San Paulo.
But it didn’t go according to the scripts and the defensive midfielder played only 19 games under Carlo Ancelotti, 13 of which came in the Serie A. And now as per CalcioNapoli24, the Guinean international can leave Napoli this summer for £16million.
That being said, Wolves must rekindle their interest in Diawara this summer.
Wolves were excellent in the Premier League this past season, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men surpassing all the expectations upon their return to the top-flight.
A seventh-placed finish in the Premier League means they’ll be playing in the Europa League qualifiers and itself is a massive achievement. But to break into the top six next term, the Wanderers will need a few additions in the summer transfer window.
Nuno has exciting options in midfield but there is a lack of depth in that department. Above all, Ruben Neves has been long linked with a move to Manchester United, while Joao Moutinho will turn 33 in September. The Wolves manager must think of his team’s future and make a move for Amadou Diawara.
Blessed with solid energy, agility, pace and power, Diawara is renowned for his ability to intercept and break up play as well as protecting the ball.
Unlikely to score a lot of goals, the Guinean more than makes up for it with his confidence and ability to control the game. He can also pick the right pass, whilst excelling at the same time with his positioning sense and game reading abilities.

Under Nuno, Wolves must constantly aim to buy exciting young talents and groom them into world-beaters. At just 21, Diawara is highly regarded as a midfielder who is tipped for great things and the Molineux could be perfect for his evolution.
