Why Wolves must retain Adama Traore despite Real Madrid interest
Speaking to La Vanguardia (h/t The Sun), Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Adama Traore has admitted that he would have no problem joining Real Madrid despite his history with arch-rivals Barcelona.
The 24-year-old has become a force to reckon with in a Wolves’ shirt and as a result, he has been linked with a move to join the La Liga giants. The report further hints at the possibility of multiple bids coming in for the winger.
Traore began his football career with Barcelona. He progressed through the La Masia ranks and made his first-team debut at the age of 17 during the 2013/14 season. He eventually moved to England and joined Aston Villa, following which he switched to Middlesbrough. And that proved to be the turning point for the player.
His displays in Middlesbrough established him as a fearsome attacker in the Championship. He scored 5 goals in the 2017/18 season and joined Wolves the following term. Since then, there has been no looking back for Traore.
A key member of Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad, he has scored 4 goals and provided 7 assists in 25 league appearances this season. It remains to be seen if Wolves are willing to sell him anytime soon.
He is far too talented and powerful to simply ignore and losing Traore would dent Wolves’ attacking unit which has looked razor-sharp this season. Currently placed 8th in the standings, the club have scored a respectable 35 goals in 26 games. They are competing in the Europa League as well and given that they are on course to qualifying for Europe once again, they cannot afford to lose Traore.

Furthermore, they are once again in contention to finish in a Europa League spot and if that happens, they would be wise to retain Traore beyond the summer.
While moving to Real Madrid is a dream move for many, Wolves must ensure he stays put at least for the foreseeable future. A sizeable fee could tempt them into sanctioning a move but losing Traore would come as a blow.
