According to a report from Calciomercato, Premier League duo Wolves and West Ham are interested in signing Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay.
Kerem Demirbay, 25, has been one of the Bundesliga’s stand-out midfielders since he moved to Julian Nagelsmann’s side from Hamburg in 2016. He has been a crucial player for Hoffenheim since, helping the club qualify for their first Champions League campaign a year ago.
The 25-year-old midfielder has enjoyed another solid campaign with Hoffenheim, scoring four goals and supplying seven assists in 23 Bundesliga games. However, his performances haven’t gone under the radar, with Wolves and West Ham set to battle it out for his signature at the end of the season.
Demirbay has all the attributes required to be a success story in Premier League football and Wolves should beat West Ham to acquire his services when the transfer window re-opens.
Wolves have been a thrilling outfit to watch in this Premier League season, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men surpassing the expectations upon their return to the top-flight last year. The Midlands club have punched above their weight but they’ll need a couple of additions in the summer if they are to challenge the ‘Big Six’ next campaign.
Nuno should add more quality and depth to his options in midfield during the summer transfer window. Ruben Neves has been an excellent performer and his partnership with Joao Moutinho in midfield has blossomed as well. But as Moutinho will turn 33 in September, Nuno has to plan for the future and bring in a long-term replacement for the ageing Portuguese.
That being said, Wolves would do a fantastic job by signing Kerem Demirbay from Hoffenheim.
Blessed with an excellent passing range and bags of energy, Demirbay has the knack of finding little pockets of spaces behind the players and influencing the game. He is creative with his passing and possesses the vision to pick the right pass in the final third.
The Germany international has the ability to dictate play and split open defences from different positions in midfield, whilst adding some much-needed cutting edge to the Wolves attack. He will not only add more depth to the Wolves squad but will also increase competition for places within Nuno’s team.
The addition of Demirbay will undoubtedly bolster Nuno’s attacking options at Molineux. Thus, Wolves should do everything in their power to lure the Germany international to the Midlands in the summer.
