Mercedes will be looking to win a seventh straight constructor’s title in the new F1 season and they shared a snippet of their 2020 livery.
Most teams are working hard to get their cars running as there are only six days of testing in Barcelona ahead of the first race.
Some teams have already shared their liveries, such as Haas, and Mercedes seem to be sticking to their tried and tested formula.
The Silver Arrows have been great over the past six years and highlighted Lewis Hamilton’s 44 with a lot of black and silver three-pointed stars.
One important bit that caught the attention of fans was a red star in between the silver ones. This is a tribute to the late Niki Lauda who provided the team with a lot of input but passed away last year.
Lauda was one of the greatest to have ever raced in F1 and was always upfront when speaking to the media.
His loss was mourned by several teams and Mercedes had honoured the former F1 champion by placing the red star on the car last year.
It seems that this star will remain on the car for the entirety of this season, and many fans reacted to this great gesture from the team:
Mercedes have to be the favourites to win another title this season. They had the best car the last time around and Hamilton won his sixth driver’s championship with relative ease.
The Brit can now match the record held by F1 legend Michael Schumacher as he attempts to win his seventh title.
Testing will provide a great idea of the kind of pace all the teams are running it, but it shouldn’t be a surprise if Mercedes keep things a little slow and unleash their true power in Melbourne.
