The 2022 Wimbledon champion, Elena Rybakina, stormed into the finals of the Slovenia Open after completely annihilating Ana Bogdan 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinal on Saturday.
The talented youngster won her semi-final bout without breaking too much of a sweat. Rybakina was absolutely on fire and showed signs of her Wimbledon form at Tennis Arena Portoroz.
The No. 3 seed, Rybakina, took control of proceedings from the get-go and the Romanian veteran had no answers to the questions asked by the 23-year-old. Rybakina had a win percentage of 64 on the first serve compared to just 44 for Bogdan.
Rybakina was fresh after her quarterfinal opponent Lesia Tsurenko had to pull out of the tournament prior to the match owing to an injury. The Wimbledon champion defeated Laura Siegemund and Tereza Martincova in the first couple of rounds. However, her semifinal performance was one of the most convincing performances she has delivered in some time. Her backhand shots were exemplary and a sight to behold.
Rybakina will face the winner of the other semifinal match between German qualifier Anna-Lena Friedsam and doubles World No. 1 Katerina Siniakova. Judging by her current form, Rybakina will go into the all-important final match as the overwhelming favorite.
