Seth Rollins is going to WrestleMania 38; 5 potential opponents for him

Published by

Seth Rollins has finally found his way to WrestleMania 38. The Visionary went to Mr. McMahon’s office to meet the Chairman of WWE before this week’s episode of RAW.

Seth Rollins

Vince McMahon told Seth Rollins that the former Universal champion will face an opponent of his choosing at WrestleMania. Rollins will only get to know about his opponent once he reaches the ring at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas for “The Show of Shows“.

We list 5 probable opponents of the former Shield member.

5. Jinder Mahal

The modern-day Maharaja hasn’t done anything memorable in recent times. Before the 2021 draft, he formed a stable with Veer and Shanky. However, after the draft, Veer went to RAW and will make his repackaged debut on the RAW after WrestleMania. As for Shanky and Mahal, they have not had any feud of note during their time on the blue brand.

A couple of weeks ago, they teamed up with Happy Corbin to take on the team of Drew McIntyre and the Viking Raiders. Drew finished the match with a Claymore on Shanky.

However, it can’t be forgotten that Jinder Mahal is a former WWE champion and a United States champion as well. Recently, he went to Hogan’s Beach Shop, Mahal met the Hulkster, who tweeted later on that if given a proper push, Mahal could be “the next Hulk Hogan“. It will be interesting to see if Mahal’s push, starts as soon as WrestleMania 38.

4. Robert Roode

The WWE Universe has for long enough wanted a better booking for Robert Roode. The Glorious one’s in-ring attributes and knowledge of wrestling are second to none. He has been involved in the build-up to Bron Breakker and Dolph Ziggler’s feud. However, the Dirty Dawgz member hasn’t had any storyline for himself at the Showcase of the Immortals.

Robert Roode is a former NXT champion on one occasion. He won the 24/7 championship once. Roode also won the WWE United States Champion once and the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship on two occasions (w/Chad Gable and w/Dolph Ziggler) and the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship on one occasion (w/Dolph Ziggler).

If Roode is chosen by Vince McMahon to face Rollins at ‘Mania, fans would be delighted and surely, they will witness a brilliant wrestling match.

3. Ricochet

The high-flyer is the current Intercontinental champion. His case is a lot similar to Roode’s. A bundle of potential but not properly utilized until he defeated Sami Zayn to win the title a few weeks ago on SmackDown with an assist from Johnny Knoxville.

Ricochet’s reign hasn’t been smooth though. He has already lost three matches in the space of two episodes with two losses coming on a single show of SmackDown. He took the two losses against Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo on SmackDown last week before losing this week against Austin Theory in under 2 minutes. By their wins, Los Lotharios will face Ricochet in a triple threat match on this week’s WrestleMania SmackDown.

Ricochet is expected to retain his title and he might be without a match at ‘Mania. It would be a good idea to slot him in a match with the Architect. A win versus Rollins would be a huge boost for both Ricochet and his title. The Intercontinental title and the United States title have lost a lot of significance in recent times. In the 90s and even in the early 2000s, these titles were shown to be almost at par with the World championship. Ricochet is a gifted performer and if he competes with Rollins at The Grandest Stage of Them All, it will surely be a spectacle for the fans.

2. Gable Steveson

The 21-year-old recently retired from amateur wrestling. He has been signed by WWE and his debut is speculated to be on the RAW after WrestleMania. However, he can be called into action earlier.

Imagine a superstar of the caliber of Gable Steveson whose debut is highly anticipated, makes his debut against one of the top names in WWE at the company’s biggest event of the year in front of thousands of fans. Mouth-watering prospect for sure.

This would be a monumental surprise though. WWE will look to preserve him for RAW after WrestleMania which is known for throwing in a lot of surprises. Still, our optimistic hearts will hope to see the second Olympic wrestling gold medalist signed by WWE after Kurt Angle to come out to face the multi-time World champion, Seth Rollins.

1. Cody Rhodes

The former AEW superstar is the most likely opponent for Seth Rollins. Cody‘s comeback to WWE has been speculated by fans and media channels for quite some time now. In fact, during Seth’s struggles to find a WrestleMania match over the past few weeks, fans chanted Cody’s name whenever he appeared.

WWE has done well to make the fans wait for Cody’s highly-anticipated WWE comeback. Last month, Edge and The Miz, during their respective promos, teased Cody’s return. When Edge threw an open challenge for someone to face him at WrestleMania, there were rumors that Cody would be the one accepting the challenge. However, it was AJ Styles, who answered the challenge.

There was only one option left and a fine one at that. The 4-time World champion and one of the most popular superstars in WWE – Seth Rollins. Cody Rhodes versus Seth Rollins could be a match for the ages. It has the potential to steal the show despite other big matches already on the card.

Dark horse – Tommaso Ciampa

Tommaso Ciampa will face Tony D’Angelo at NXT Stand & Deliver prior to WrestleMania. This will be his last match on WWE’s developmental brand. Ciampa, in all likelihood, will move to the main roster.

The Blackheart is a worthy competitor as he has worked very hard on the NXT circuit for a long time. He is a two-time NXT champion. Ciampa is expected to enjoy a major push on the main roster and facing Rollins at ‘Mania would be an awesome way to start.

Ciampa has a lot of experience working on the independent circuit. He has won multiple world championships in different wrestling promotions over the years. His technique and understanding of the sport are commendable. He is certainly the dark horse in the race to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38.
