WWE is preparing to host its biggest event of the year – WrestleMania 39 at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on the 1st and 2nd of April.
WrestleMania 39 can be watched by fans on Peacock, WWE Network, and pay-per-view. The Stamford-based company has some potentially thrilling matches lined up for the show. Big stars like Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, and many more will be seen in action.
1. Gunther (c) vs Sheamus vs Drew McIntyre – Triple-Threat Intercontinental Championship Match
Gunther won the Intercontinental Championship from Ricochet on the 10 June 2022 episode of SmackDown. He has been on a dominating run since then. Drew McIntyre and Sheamus jointly won a No. 1 contender’s match on SmackDown. Gunther wanted to face only one man at WrestleMania. On the March 17 episode of SmackDown, Imperium interfered in a No. 1 contender’s match involving Sheamus and McIntyre. A furious Adam Pearce announced that at WrestleMania, Gunther will defend his title against Sheamus and McIntyre in a triple-threat match.
2. Charlotte Flair (c) vs Rhea Ripley – SmackDown Women’s Championship Match
The Queen faced The Nightmare at WrestleMania 37. The experienced campaign defeated Ripley to win the NXT Women’s Championship. Ripley outlasted 29 other women in the Women’s Royal Rumble and chose Charlotte Flair as her opponent at ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’. This is going to be a great match between two generational talents.
3. Bianca Belair (c) vs Asuka – RAW Women’s Championship Match
The EST of WWE has defeated some of the best professional wrestlers on the WWE roster during her impressive title reign. She will hope to continue her reign at the top. However, she has a dangerous Asuka waiting for her. The Japanese veteran went on to win the Women’s Elimination Chamber match to earn the right to challenge Belair for the RAW Women’s Championship.
4. Brock Lesnar vs Omos
This is going to be a battle between two colossal forces. Will Brock Lesnar be able to use his quickness to rattle Omos, or will the heel use his power to dismantle the Beast Incarnate? Reports emerged that Lesnar turned down an offer to wrestle Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania. Omos went on to challenge Lesnar to a match at the showpiece event and the former MMA star accepted gleefully. This was before he delivered a thunderous F5 to MVP on the February 26 episode of RAW.
5. Roman Reigns (c) vs Cody Rhodes – Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match
The legendary title reign of Roman Reigns could have its days numbered. Cody Rhodes won the 30-man Royal Rumble match and fixated his attention on the WWE Universal Championship. While The Head of the Table is busy with the internal problems of the Bloodline, Rhodes is focused on winning his first world title in WWE. The promos so far have been around Cody’s father, Dusty Rhodes seeing more in Reign than his own son.
6. Becky Lynch, Lita and Trish Stratus vs Damage Control
Becky Lynch and Lita challenged Damage Control for the Women’s Tag Team Championship on the February 27 episode of RAW. The crowd was backing the duo of Lynch and Lita but Bayley tried hard to distract them so that Io Sky and Dakota Kai could take advantage. In the end, Trish Stratus appeared to a huge ovation from the WWE Universe and neutralized the Role Model. Lita and Becky went on to defeat Damage Control and become the new Women’s Tag Team Champions. The following week on RAW, Lynch, Lita, and Trish were in the ring, celebrating what took place the previous week. Damage Control interrupted their segment. After a war of words, the two trios decided to have a six-woman tag team match at WrestleMania 39.
7. Logan Paul vs Seth Rollins
These two have been going back and forth for some time. Paul has impressed fans with his high-flying skills. Rollins is one of the greatest professional wrestlers at the moment. The Visionary produced a scintillating match alongside Cody Rhodes in last year’s WrestleMania. He will hope to put on a show this year as well.
8. John Cena vs Austin Theory (c) – United States Championship Match
This match has been rumored for a long time. John Cena needs no introduction as he is arguably the greatest professional wrestler of all time. Austin Theory has been touted as one of the future superstars of the company. Cena returned to WWE on the March 5 episode of RAW. He was confronted by Theory who wanted to have a match at WrestleMania. However, Cena wasn’t willing to give him the match as he felt Theory didn’t deserve it at this point. Eventually, Cena accepted after the WWE Universe urged him to wrestle Theory at the showpiece event. This promises to be a riveting encounter.
Edge vs Finn Balor – Hell in a Cell Match
The Judgement Day and Edge have been going back and forth for a while. Finn Balor has been at the forefront of the rivalry on the part of Judgement Day. He challenged Edge to a match at WrestleMania. The Rated-R Superstar not only agreed to have the match but he also added a stipulation. This grudge match will be held inside Hell in a Cell. Edge is a WWE Hall of Famer and Finn Balor is well on course to becoming one himself. This promises to be a match for the ages. Let’s hope it lives up to all the hype. Balor hinted at bringing Demon King to ‘Mania. That will make this match even more intriguing.
The Usos vs Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens – Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Match
It was predicted for a long time but after weeks and weeks of build up, fans have finally got what they wanted. Sami Zayn tried to befriend Jey Uso but the latter opted to choose his brother over him. Sami managed to win back the trust of his best friend, Kevin Owens. When KO finally agreed to team up to take down The Usos, the WWE Universe got themselves a huge WrestleMania match. The Usos vs Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens can be one of the greatest tag team matches in the history of WrestleMania.
Rey Mysterio vs Dominik Mysterio
Dominik pushed Rey for weeks but the veteran kept his cool. Rey always maintained that he wouldn’t fight his son. Dominik interfered in Rey’s matches for weeks and abused his father verbally as well as physically. Eventually, when Dominik misbehaved with his own mother, Rey lost his temper and took down his son with a big right hand. The Master of the 619 also accepted Dominik’s challenge of having a match at WrestleMania. Is Dominik ready for the biggest match of his career? We will find out.
