“Too rare to live” – Wrestling community mourns the death of Markus Crane

GCW and Deathmatch Wrestling star Markus Crane passed away recently at the age of 33

The wrestling community mourned the death of Game Changer Wrestling star Markus Crane who passed away at the young age of 33.

Crane was a well-known name across several promotions, notably, GCW and Deathmatch Wrestling. His real name is Mark Pobanz.

A statement from GCW’s official Twitter handle revealed that Crane had suffered a life-threatening head injury back in 2019. An infection in his skull had leaked into his brain back then.

Although, Crane fought back, and made a remarkable recovery, he lost his life.

A part of GCW’s statement read:

“With sadness, GCW mourns the loss of Markus Crane. As a performer, Markus embodied the spirit of GCW. He was an underdog and an outlaw. He was fearless in the ring and determined to succeed against the odds. He played a major role in GCW’s early success and was part of the heart and soul of our roster from day one.”

It is worth noting that Crane spent more than 10 years as a professional wrestler, having made his debut, back in 2009 in Illinois. He was one of the earliest members of GCW.
