World No. 55 Alison Van Uytvanck takes on world No. 108 Cristina Bucsa in the quarterfinals of the WTA Andorra Open on Friday.

The 28-year-old began her campaign in Andorra with a solid performance against fellow Belgian Yanina Wickmayer. Van Uytvanck won the match 6-4, 6-4. In the round of 16, Van Uytvanck defeated America’s Katrina Scott in straight sets. Scott fought hard in the first set but Van Uytvanck eventually won the set 7-5. The Belgian veteran dominated the second set as she won 7-5, 6-2.
Cristina Bucsa
The 24-year-old has bounced back strongly after being ousted in the round of 32 of the ITF event in Valencia. Bucsa entered the Andorra Open as the 8th seed and has so far won both her matches in straight sets.
In the round of 32, Bucsa produced a dominating performance in the first set versus Lina Glushko. The Israeli youngster fought hard in the second set but the Spaniard managed to win the match 6-1, 7-6 (7-1). In the round of 16, Bucsa defeated Kateryna Baindl comprehensively in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
