Second seed Alison Van Uytvanck will be seen in action at the WTA Andorra Open as she faces Katrina Scott in the round of 32 on Wednesday.
Alison Van Uytvanck
The Belgian athlete is playing her first tournament since losing to Clara Burel in the second round of the US Open in September.
Van Uytvanck got off to a solid start as she got the better of fellow Belgian Yanina Wickmayer in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to progress through to the round of 16. The world No. 55 hit 5 aces during the encounter and had a win percentage of 81 on the first serve. She won 73 points. The 28-year-old is one win away from reaching her fifth quarter-final in 2022.
Katrina Scott
The American teenager came into the tournament on the back of a 4-match losing streak. She had to dig deep to get past her first-round opponent, Jessika Ponchet.
Scott won the intriguing match in the third set as all three sets were decided in tiebreaks. Ponchet committed 11 double faults and that did not help her cause. Scott managed to hold her nerves in crucial junctures to eventually win the match 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (7-9), 7-6 (8-6). She will have very little margin for error when she takes on the experienced Van Uytvanck.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 as Katrina Scott and Alison Van Uytvanck have never faced each other as yet.
Prediction: Alison Van Uytvanck to win in straight sets.
